- Online couples therapy is not permitted if both partners have a psychiatric diagnosis.
- If one partner or neither partner has a psychiatric diagnosis, couples therapy may be conducted online.
Insurance Coverage & Payment
- If one partner has a psychiatric diagnosis, couples therapy can be billed through basic health insurance.
- If neither partner has a psychiatric diagnosis, couples therapy must be paid for privately.
Initial Consultation
- If one partner has a psychiatric diagnosis, the initial consultation must take place in person at the practice.
- If neither partner has a psychiatric diagnosis, the initial consultation may take place either online or in person.
If you have any questions or would like to clarify which options apply to your situation, please feel free to get in touch.
About Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)
We all seek fulfilling relationships that feel safe and supportive. Experiencing difficulties in a relationship is not the exception—it is a natural part of close human connections. Couples therapy (also known as marriage counselling or couples coaching) offers an effective way to improve relationship quality and support lasting change.
Couples therapy is not only helpful during times of crisis. It is equally suitable for couples who wish to work preventively on their relationship, strengthen their connection, and enhance their overall quality of life. While working together as a couple can be beneficial, therapy can also be effective when only one partner participates.
In my practice, I work with Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT is a scientifically well-established and evidence-based approach that helps couples understand recurring interaction patterns and emotional distancing. It supports partners in creating new ways of relating to one another and in rebuilding closeness and trust.
Couple therapy sessions can also be carried out online very well. The partners can be in the same place or in different locations.
The conversations can be held in German or in English.
Psychotherapy and Counselling
The effectiveness of modern psychotherapy is scientifically well proven. It is tailor-made and goal oriented.
The integrative approach I offer combines different therapy modules in a meaningful way and is less bound to traditional therapy schools.
In a trusting therapeutic relationship we will work out
- where exactly the difficulties lie
- the aims of the therapy
- a selection of methods to achieve these objectives
- your resources (strengths) and further development of skills
- a continuous review of the achievement of objectives
Biographical and interpersonal aspects are taken into account as well as structured work with thought patterns, behaviour and feelings. Mindfulness-based approaches are given great importance. Mindfulness is a certain form of presence towards feelings, thoughts and physical processes. If meaningful and desired, relatives can also be included in the treatment.
The most important approaches in my practice are:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP)
- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT)
- Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy (IRRT)
- Consistency Theory according to Prof. Dr. Klaus Grawe
- Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
- Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Stress Management Through Mindfulness
- Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Mindful Self-Compassion
Currently I do not offer MBCT, MBSR or MSC groups. However, I would be happy to provide elements of these in individual settings.
Costs and setting
Therapies without psychiatric illness (e.g. partnership problems, life crises without illness value, personality development, self-awareness of therapists) are not subject to health insurance, but are offered at self-payment. In these cases, counselling can also be carried out online very well.
The psychotherapeutic treatment of psychiatric illness is covered by the basic insurance in Switzerland. It must then be done in practice (not online).
Languages
I offer therapies in German and English.
Medication Treatment
Many problems do not require medication. Some mental disorders however, take a better course under its effect.
I take time in answering all of your questions and advise you individually without pressure. If you decide to take psychopharmaceuticals, we will meet regularly to discuss the effects, side effects and dose adjustments.
Your safety comes first. Tolerability is regularly verified by controls. I work together with your family doctor.
In Switzerland, treatment with medication is covered by basic insurance. The interviews must take place in the office (not online).
